Frequently Asked Questions

Software MacKiev is delighted to be taking up the challenge of publishing the most widely used and most beloved family tree software of all time.

When will the free updates be available?
Free updates are rolling out now, and we expect to have notified all registered users who have signed up for the mailing list in the next couple of weeks. For more information, go to our Free Update Information Center. The updates offer added security, faster performance and greater stability among many other improvements, and are recommended for all those who have already updated to FTM 2014.1 or Mac 3.1 too.
How can I get notified when they're ready?
Sign up for the FTM Mailing List at www.familytreemaker.com and check the box that indicates you want to hear about free updates. We'll let you know the moment they're available.
Don't the updates have some big new features?
No. For users of FTM 2014 or Mac 3, these are update patches, not new editions. There are no major new features. That's why they're free. Mostly we've focussed on performance and stability improvements.
Should I be in a hurry to get an update?
Probably not. Most FTM 2014 and Mac 3 users aren't having any problems and are best off waiting. But if your copy of FTM is acting up, you should submit a support request. If your issue is fixed in an update, we'll get you a copy right away.
